The short answer
We grade the RIDGID R96851 C (Wait) at $299 at The Home Depot, as of Oct 26, 2026. Just okay. The sale tag is doing more work than the price.
Today's $299 ties the lowest price we've recorded.
What's a good price for the RIDGID R96851?
All 3 prices we've recorded from May 11, 2026 to Oct 26, 2026 are $299, so $299 is the price that keeps coming back. A price below $299 would be the lowest we've recorded. A price above it is above everything we've recorded, and our rubric gives a price above an item's usual range a D or an F.
The grade also weighs what other stores charge and who's selling it. How we grade.

The lesson
Fair, not special. Eight tools, a 2Ah and a 4Ah battery, a charger and a bag for $299 is a lot of kit, but this exact set has landed at $299 in sale after sale since May, so today's price isn't news. If you need a whole starter shop right now, it's a fine buy. Otherwise wait and see if Black Friday pushes it lower.
